Tinkoff Saxo's Rafal Majka has won the 71st Tour Of Poland.

Majka led going into the final stage which was a 25km time trial in Krakow but it was Mateusz Taciak of CCC Polsat who set the early time to beat of 29.57.

Adriano Malori of Movistar beat that by 35 seconds before Kristof Vandervalle of Trek Factory racing finished in 29.18.

That was a time which was not to be beaten despite a great ride by British rider Steve Cummings of BMC who finished third, ten seconds down on Vandervalle.

Rafal Majka, as race leader was the last man down the ramp and knew that his lead over eighteen seconds over  Benat Intxausti and 22 seocnds over Movistar's Jon Izaguirre (Movistar) might not be enough to win the Golden jersey unless he put in a good shift.

Majka finished in thirteenth place, some forty six seconds down on Vandervalle but he punched the air as he discovered that he had done enough to beat Intxhausti by eight seconds and become the first ever Polish winner of this race since it became a World Tour event.

Speaking about Majka's overall victory, Tinkoff Saxo's Tristan Hoffman told his team's website: “It has been a magnificent ride. Not just today but the whole week has been awesome in terms of teamwork and dedication. Everyone’s been working any targeting the same goal providing Rafal with the support he needed to succeed overall. And today, he paid back. He was incredibly focused and I think he rode the TT of his life. The spectators here made it feel like Tour de France and I’m sure they’re partly responsible for Rafal’s powerful ride today. He truly deserves this win.
