Whilst most of Rotterdam was blocked off to the junior races which were being held in a city where there appears to be as many bikes as people, today was Tour De France Press Conference Day.

Some like Team Sky, Garmin and BMC which has the world champion Cadel Evans opted to speak to the world's media in their hotels but a number did use the media centre at the excellent Ahoy Complex in the south of the Dutch city which one paper Spits is reporting as saying as likely to make €30m over the four days Le Tour is in town for a €5m outlay.

HTC Colombia have always been progressive on the media front and today, whilst introducing their team, they unveiled new technological deals with Skype and Google that will allow more real time following of their riders during Le Tour which starts tomorrow with a prologue.

Introducing the conference for the American based team were Phil Liggett (38th tour) and Paul Sherwyn (32nd tour), who are known to you all as the British voices of the Tour De France.

The duo are commentating for ITV4 and will be broadcasting everyday.

They spoke in front of a packed conference and viewers on the internet about the world's most successful cycling team to team owner Bob Stapleton, who spoke about the 35 partners including Skype and Google involved in helping the team.

One long standing partner has been Scott and they have come up with a new bike for the tour.

Weighing only 840g, the Scott FO1 which was tested in the Mercedes Benz wind tunnel in the UK, the bike is light weight, aerodynamic and has the necessary stiffness which Mark Cavendish demands.

Team Boss Rolf Aldaag, who rode in 13 tours said he had sleepless night about picking the nine riders for this year's tour but it was the core of last year's team. That includes Mark Cavendish who drew good applause when he was unveiled.

One question the rider from the Isle of Man keeps being asked is if he can beat his six stage wins of last year.

Speaking to Phil Liggett, he said: "In the Tour De France, it is a success even to win one stage. "We have a good team and we will try and win as many as we can. "It is possible and we will only be able to answer your question at the end of the three weeks.

"It will be three weeks of suffering that is for sure."The Green Jersey is an ambition and we have a team that can challenge for it so it is a big goal."

Tomorrow the race starts with an 8.9km prologue and HTC Colombia have an excellent individual time trialer in Tony Martin.

The German who excelled in the Tour De Suisse said: "The prologue is a big goal and I expect a good result and I hope I can do it."
