Porte Wins Giro Del Trentino

Team Sky's Richie Porte has won the Giro Del Trentino race in Italy.

Porte went into the final stage with a twenty two second lead over Mikel Landa and led the riders out on a 161.5km stages from Males to Cles.

A group of fifteen riders in Gretsch, Zeits, Tvetcov, Sterbini, Berlato, Cecchinel, Tedeschi, Petilli, Sarmiento, Niyonshuti, Teklehaimanot, Benedetti, Benito, Txurruka and Wohrer formed the first major break and they had established a lead of 1.20 after fifty three kilometres.

Team Sky let this group stay clear for another thirty kilometres before they were hauled back in and Tiralongo, Duarte and Arroyo formed a new attack, taking a twelve second lead over seven chasers with seventy kilometres left.

Twenty kilometres later and Fabio Duarte had got down the road on his own with a twenty second lead over Tiralongo and Arroyo, thirty seconds over Peraud, Bisloti and Petilli and 1.30 over the peloton.

With none of the riders in the front group likely to affect the overal lead of the race, the lead of Duarte who had again been joined by Tiralongo and Arroyo went out to to 2.50 with twelve kilometres left.

The gap dropped under two minutes but it was out of this trip as to who would win and it was Paolo Tiralongo who had marked every attack by David Arroyo who took the stage win, ahead of Arroyo, Duarte, Bisolti and Peraud.

Richie Porte finished comfortably and he took the overall victory.
