Cannondale's Peter Sagan has won the third stage of the Tour De Suisse.

The race rolled out of the stage two finishing town of Sarnen on a 203km stage with a final desitination of Heiden with 170 riders minus Franck Schleck of Trek Factory racing not starting due to suffering with concussion.

After twenty kilometres, Martin Kohler (BMC) and Steven Kruijswijk (Belkin) escaped and were able to a lead of 4.10 which meant that Kruijswijk, who started the stage a minute behind race leader Tony Martin of Omega Pharma Quick Step, was now the virtual leader on the road.

They stayed away, mopping up the points until the sixty nine kilometre to go mark when they were caught.

Nino Schurter, Laurent Didier, Danilo Wyss and Bjorn Thurau now led the stage with fifty kilometres left and they were 34 seconds ahead of the yellow jersey led peloton.

Tharua dropped back after taking some points on the climb and Valerio Agnoli of Astana and Josh Van Der Sande of Lotto Belisol, joined the leaders.

After Didier was dropped from the front group and Mark Cavendish from the peloton, Agnoli shot off with 23kms remaining.

However, on a tight bend just over ten kilometres to go, down went Agnoli after over-shooting the road and ending up in some grass.

Van Der Sande was the only rider now left up front but he was caught as Tony Martin brought peloton forward.

Peter Kennaugh of Team Sky attacked with 2.1kms left but he was soon marked, so Kennaugh continued to lead the yellow jersey group until just before the flam rouge.

Laurens Ten Dam of Belkin got to the fron as did Tony Martin who led with 500m to go. Cadel Evans attacked with 400 metres left. but it was Peter Sagan, who had planned his finish to the hghest degree and won in 5.22.09 just beating Albasini and then Sergio Henao, Bauke Mollema and Cadel Evans.
