Notts won the toss and batted and had made 19 runs when Clarke bowled Mullaney for six.
Thirty more runs were added before Jeetan Patal trapped Lumb lbw after he had made ten and Patal caught Taylor off the bowling of Barker to leave Notts on 76-3.
Boyd Rankin came in and removed Wessels for three and Patal for six, both caught behind by Tim Ambrose but the rain came down and no more play was possible, leaving Notts on 125-6 from 61 overs.
