Nordhaug Wins The GP De Montreal

Lars Peter Nordhaug won the GP De Montreal today.

This race around the university area of Montreal in 12,1km laps, saw Cyril Gaultier in a two man break along with Martinez of Euskatel and after Matt Goss has abandoned with 45kms to go, the strong field continued a minute and 12 down.

Gautier took the final sprint to take his sprints points tally in the race to 29 as BMC lead the peloton.

A group of four rider and another of three comprising riders of seven different teams tried to get away with fifteen kilometres to go.

Everyone was back together with eleven to go and a kilometre later, Gerald Chiolek was involved in a crash.

Edvald Boason Hagen was on the front as GP De Quebec winner Simon Gerrans and Peter Sagan.

Greg van Avermaet and then Simon Gerrans attacked with less than six to go. Team Sky's Lars Peter Nordhaug attacked for a couple of kilometres.

As the riders looked at each other, Nordhaug carried on until three riders caught him with a kilometre  Kolobnev of Katusha was out in front.and the Katusha rider was passed with 100kms to go by Lars Peter Nordhaug to win the race and collect the $25,000 prize money ahead of Moser, Kolobnev and Gerrans in a time of 5.28.29.
