David Millar will not end his career by competing in the Tour De France.

Millar, had thought that he was in the Garmin-Sharp team for the race which starts in Leeds on Saturday but he has been omitted from the team and joins a growing list of British riders including British Time Trial Champion Sir Bradley Wiggins, Biritsh Road Race Champion Peter Kennaugh and Alex Dowsett, who will not be competing in the world's greatest cycle race.

The Scot, who will now look to retain his time trial title at the Commonwealth Games, tweeted: " I was selected for TdF last week, then they pulled me last night. Wiggo, Dowsett, Pete, Swifty, fancy a city break? I hear York's nice."
