Nibali Wins Giro Del Trentino

Astana's Vincenzo Nibali won the 37th Giro Del Trentino.

The final stage was one for the climbers and was a 166.8km stage from Arco - Sega di Ala which featured a final Hors category climb over 14kms. 

A good number of escapers had got up the road up the road but with 21kms to go, only seven were off the front with a lead of just over a minute.

Sir Bradley Wiggins had problems with his gearing and had to work to get back into the front group along with Kanstantin Siutsov who had waited for his Team Sky team-mate.

With race leader Maxime Bouet struggling down the mountain, Vincenzo Nibali, who was 3.57 down on the General Classification time of Bouet and Vini Fantani's Mauro Santambrogio took to the front.

Just before the 3kms to go mark, Nibali shot away. Santambrogio tried to catch him but Nibali looked comfortable on the 4% uphill finish and won in a time of 4.21.49.

Santambrogio came in second, ten seconds back with Niemech beating Aru for third place.

Wiggins came in ninth a minute and 39 down, shaking his head as attention now turned to what time AG2R's Maxime Bouet would come in at.

Bouet came in 4.42 down and the Giro Del Trentino went to Vincenzo Nibali beating Samtambrogio by 21 seconds and Maxime Bouet by 55 seconds. Bradley Wiggins finished fifth overall.
