Navardauskas Wins Circuit de la Sarthe

Garmin Sharp's Ramunas Navardauskas won the  62nd Circuit de la Sarthe-Pays de la Loire.

The Lithuanian had taken over the lead of the race with victory on Stage Four and was keen to preserve his lead as the race set out on a 184km stage from Aabbaye de L'Epau to La-Ferte-Bernard.

There was an early crash but it did not stop Hurel, Ignatyev and Kohler from taking a lead which went out to 3.50 after fifty kilometres and seven minutes after 75kms.

Their lead started to diminish and it was down to 1.40 with 54.8kms to go.

Alex Dowsett, who had led the race but dropped back to 83rd place in the General Classification, abandoned before the trio were caught with 45kms remaining.

Rohan Dennis took the second sprint to increase his lead in the sprints competition before Axel Domont of AG2R and Angelo Tulik of Europcar went for a long one with twenty kilometres to go.

Geslin, Larsson and Laengen joined them briefly but Axel Domont went away inside the final five kilometres and took the win ahead of Tulik and Geslin.
