Movistar Win Vuelta a España Team Time Trial

Movistar won the Team Time Trial in the opening stage of the 69th Vuelta a España.

The race started with a 12.6km time trial which included 25 corners at Jerez and saw ‎ MTN Qhubeka the first team down the ramp and the first African team in a Grand Tour finished with six riders in 14:42. 

They lasted on top of the leader board until they were beaten by Giant Shimano, who clocked a time of of 14:29.

Orica Green Edge had Adam Yates in their team and they finished ten seconds quicker than Giant Shimano with Cannondale then going 0.01 seconds quicker.

Garmin-Sharp included David Millar and Irishman Danny Martin but they could only finish in 14.54.

Chris Froome was in the Team Sky team and said that he had felt good despite a crash on Friday but his team which also included British Road Race Champion Peter Kennaugh and Luke Rowe, finished in 14.40 

Last down the ramp which was on a dias in a swimming pool, was Movistar and they made up eleven seconds in the second half of the stage to take the win in 14.13 and put Jonathan Castroviejo in the leaders jersey for stage two.
