Sacha Modolo of Lampre has won the fifth stage of the Tour De Suisse.

A fifth stage of 184kms from Ossingen to Büren A.D. Aare started without Sir Bradley Wiggins and saw Frederik Veuchelen (Wanty Group), Jaroslaw Marycz (CCC Polsat) and Sander Armée (Lotto) get away.

Over the first climb of the day, the trio had a lead of 4.10. That went out to five minutes but with 52 kilometres left, that was down to 2.27 ahead of the peloton led by race leader Tony Martin with 52kms left.

Sander Armée took the final climb at Biezwill with 25kms to go whilst the peloton were held up due to the numbers trying to get over the climb at the same time.

The trio were 52 seconds clear but they were caught by a peloton doing speeds of 62km/h.

Katusha controlled things on the front with five to go before Giant Shimano and Omega Pharma Quick Step with Mark Cavendish in third wheel.

There was a crash which affected Cavendish, who went his handlebars, with two hundred metres on a technical sprint and Sacha Modolo of Lampre won in 4.08.06 ahead of Sagan, Degenkolb, Kristoff and Rojas.
