David Millar finished third as Taylor Phinney won the Prologue stage of the Eneco Tour of the Benelux Countries this afternoon.

The opening prologue was a 5.7km ride around Amserfoort in the north of the Netherlands and saw German road champion Robert Wagner take the early lead finishing in a time of seven minutes and fifteen seconds before Jesse Sergent of Radio Shack came in six seconds quicker.

That was nothing compared to BMC's Taylor Phinney who smashed the time when he came home in 6 mins 57 seconds.

Garmin-Cervelo's David Millar who has signed a new contract for the American based team, put in a great ride and finished in a time of seven minutes and six seconds. He was later beaten by Edvald Boasson Hagen came second a second quicker and had to be happy with a creditable third place.

Tomorrow's second stage is from Oosterhout to Sint Willebrord and is 191.2km long.
