Tony Martin is looking to defend his World Time Trial title at the World Championships tomorrow.

Martin, who warmed up for this 56.8km time trial from Montecatini Terme to Florence by helping his Omega Pharma Quick Step team win the team title on Sunday, has been in good form this season with a solo raid in the sixth stage of the 68th Vuelta a España which saw him denied victory by a matter of twenty metres.

The German, will face stiff competition from Radio Shack's Fabian Cancellera, who goes down the ramp ninety seconds earlier than Martin at 15.10.30 local time.

Going off ninety seconds earlier than Cancellera, will be Sir Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky who carries British hopes with British Time Trial Champion Alex Dowsett of Movistar.

Wiggins easily won the time trial in the Tour Of Britain and this sent the former Tour De France winner on his way to win the race overall when it reached Westminster and the climax of the eighth and final stage.

Ireland has one representative in Nicholas Roche of Saxo-Tinkoff, who is due down the ramp at 14.21.

First man down the ramp of the 79 currently listed as starting, will be Uganda's Herbert Mugwanya, who starts the course at 13.15 local time.

You can see most of the time trial live on BBC 2 from 1.40pm.
