Johan Lebon of FDJ has won the fifth stage of the Eneco Tour.

With Jos Van Emden of Lotto Soudal the new race leader, the riders took on a mini Amstel Gold Race with eighteen hills to be climbed some of them more than once, making a total of twenty seven hills in total on a 179.6km stage from Riemst to Sittard-Geleen.

It took over thirty five kilometres for any sort of attack to succeed and when it did it was Nicky Terpstra who got clear and was thirty two seconds ahead before he was brought back.

Dylan Van Baarle of Cannondale-Garmin and Johan Lebon of FDJ were next to attack after Nathan Haas had abandoned and they were 2.55 ahead when they reached the Three Countries Point in Vaals.

Over the 14% Gulperberg and the gap had gone out to 4.05 with 77kms riden and with sixty kilometres to go, they were still 4.22 ahead.

The duo then started on two local laps of 22.4 kilometres which included five hills in each lap.

They kept going and it was Johan Lebon who won in a time of 4.13.50 who just beat Dylan Van Baarle.

Magnus Cort Nielsen finished third nine seconds down followed by Tim Wellens and Wilco Kelderman.
