Kris Boeckmans Wins World Ports Classic

Lotto Soudal's Kris Boeckmans has won the World Ports Classic race.

The second stage was the returning 195km from Antwerp to Rotterdam which had Andrea Guardini of Astana in the leaders blue jersey.

In Brecht, Kris Boeckmans took the three seconds bonification from the sprint, ahead of Rudy Barbier with Guardini taking a second. 

Pieter Van Speybrouck, Tim de Troyer, Daniele Ratto, Alex Kirsch, Sjoerd Kouwenhoven, Jetse Bol had got into a break and after sixty four kilometres, they were 2.40 ahead on the peloton.

At Tholen after 81.5kms, the gap had gone out slightly to 2.45.before Van Speybrouck took the second sprint eight and nine kilometres later.

Thomas De Gendt was leading the peloton which was 1.29 down on the leaders.with 28.8kms to go.

Jetse Boi attacked on his own but Guardini got back into the peloton after a mechanical in readiness for the sprint.

There was a crash with Matt Goss going down and leaving about fifteen riders to contest the sprint. Kris Broeckmans of Lotto Soudal had avoided the crash and he rode to victory and the overall victory with a win ahead of Napolitano, Bazzana, Sinkeldam, Van Staeyen, Jans,  Theuns, Barbier and Teunissen.

Boeckmans won the overall classification with Wanty Group's Napolitano seconds and Bazzana of UnitedHealthCare in third.
