Net App's Leopold Koenig won the sixth stage of the ninth Tour Of Britain today.

Today's stage from Welshpool to Caerphilly started without Team Sky's Bradley Wiggins, who had picked up a stomach bug. More on this

The break started early and Biliabloki of Node4, Dan Craven of Sigma Sport, Kristian House of Rapha Condor, Ghyllebert of AnPost and Graham Briggs of Team Raleigh got away.

With a lead of 2.20, Biliablocki took the first sprint of the day at Kerry. They had added another five minutes to their lead by the time they reached the 39 miles gone mark.

Graham Briggs took the second sprint amid good crowds at Llandrindod Wells before House took the first King Of The Mountains climb of the day.

There were big crowds yet again for the second climb on the Brecon Beacons, to see the five escapers who had been joined by Magnus Backstedt of Team UK Youth, go over the top, led by Kristian House who took the ten points.

With 57kms to go, Team Sky forced a split in the peloton. They were in a chasing group which included race leader Lee Howard and second placed Sep van Marcke and third placed Boy Van Poppel and worked to bring the gap to the escapers down dramatically.

Martin Bialoblocki was first for the third and final sprint at Mountain Ash with 34.7kms to go and the six escapers were now 2.09 ahead of the gold jersey group.

On the climb to Caerphilly, in front of big crowds, Kristian House led the way after Backstedt had dropped off the pace.

Jonathan Tiernan Locke put the hammer down and over took the escapers to take the maximum points on the final King Of The Mountains climb ahead of Briggs.

Tiernan Locke and Leopold Koenig from Net App were away. Josh Edmonson escaped from the peloton and tried to catch them.

With a 43 second lead over Howard with 5kms to go, Tiernan Locke was now the leader on the road.

The front two kept going. Koenig made the first move and won ahead of Tiernan Locke in a time of 4.38.02.

Jonathan Tiernan Locke now leads the race.
