Kiryienka - New World Time Trial Champion

Vasil Kiryienka of Belarus is the 2015 World Time Trial Champion.

Seventy riders including Alex Dowsett and Steve Cummings representing Great Britain, took to the 53.5km course from King's Dominion to Richmond, Virginia.

Australian Michael Hepburn was first down the ramp and led at all the intermediate time checks to finish in a time of 1.04.28.65.

Cummings finished in 1.04.28 but Marcin Biablocki came home, thirty six seconds quicker than Hepburn and took over the race lead with a time of 1.03.51.

All the big guns came down the ramp and and Tony Martin, the holder, went through the first checkpoint some ten seconds down on Vasil Kiryienka.

Jerome Coppell was flying and riding into the reckoning as Rohan Dennis, another of the favourites for this race, had to change his bike, whilst Alex Dowsett went through the second check point a minute down.

Frenchman Jerome Coppell finished in 1.02.56.07 to set the new best time, well ahead of Alex Dowsett's 1.04.36 and then Adriano Malori finished in 1.02.38.

In came Vasil Kiryienka, who absolutely nailed it to finish in 1.02.29.45 with two riders in Tom Dumoulin and Tony Martin to finish.

Dumoulin, who did well to even ride this time trial finished in 1.03.30 and in came Tony Martin to finish in 1.03.46 and Kiryienka was the new champion.
