Jurasek Wins Tour De Suisse Stage Two

Lampre-Merida's Kristjan Jurasek took the victory on the second stage of the Tour De Suisse.

On the 161km stage which started and finished in Risch-Rotkreuz where Tom Dumoulin of Giant Alpecin had won the Prologue, Four riders in Luka Pibernik of Lampre, Cam Meyer of Orica GreenEdge, Jurgen Roelandts of Lotto Soudal and Valeria Agnoli of Astana got away and after thirty eight kilometres were 1.08 ahead of King and Antonini and 2.55 on the peloton.

King and Antonini were caught as the four leader took their advantage out to four minutes.

Roelandts was distanced on the climb and with sixteen kilometres to go, only Pibernik and Meyer were out in front with a lead of thirty seconds.

Geraint Thomas, the Team Sky leader was on the front and helped bring the two escapers back and led with Fuglsang and Spillak over the final climb.

Thomas' group was caught by a front group but with 9.5kms left, the Welshman made his move on the descent as Thomas, Spillak and Pinot rode at speeds approaching 100km/h.

The race leader came up to join them but Fuglsang and Pinot went with 3.5kms left and Thomas had to work to bring them back.

Thomas tried to break with 2.2kms left but Dumoulin was with him and the rest of the group, which had a thirty second lead over a second group caught them up.

Under the flam rouge and Thomas was in second wheel as the riders looked around at each other. Lampre's Kristan Jurasek came out of that front group and took the advantage to win in 3.36.51 with Moreno second, followed by Arrendondo, Pinot and Thomas, followed by Spilak , Lopez ,Fuglsang, Dumoulin and Sagan who led the peloton home fourteen seconds later.

Tom Dumoulin keeps his race lead with Geraint Thomas now second some seven seconds down and Dani Moreno third eleven seconds down.

"To win a World Tour race, means a lot," said Jurasek. "Until the last kilometre, I saw everyone looking at each other and decided to go. I was sure I was not the fastest but I won and am happy to have win the stage."
