Jasper Stuyven of Trek Factory Racing was delighted with his victory on stage eight of the 70th Vuelta a España.
He told Eurosport after his win:" I did not stay clear of the crash which Chaves was also in before the first climb and hit my wrist pretty hard but I jumped on the bike and chased back and then the second time, I knew I had to start in front as Durasek was going a little too hard.
"I had my director in my ear on the radio to keep motivating me and I was there at the top with Zodl to pull the guys back along with Lotto.
"It came to the sprint and i did not feel a head wind so I said I'll go with 300ms to go and it was for me today.
"We lost Fabio pretty early which was a pity but until today we were also doing well with Frank but I felt not so good the first days but I am slowly getting there and we knew today was a big chance so I took it. "
