The Tour of Britain and Sharp extend partnership deal

Sharp to support The Tour of Britain on ITV as Official Broadcast Sponsor

SweetSpot Group are pleased to announce Sharp Electronics as Official Broadcast Sponsors for The Tour of Britain’s ITV coverage this September.

Following on from their partnership in 2010, Sharp will also continue as Official Electronics Partner to The Tour of Britain, the UK’s biggest professional cycle race and largest free-to-spectate sporting event, and The Halfords Tour Series.

Paul Hide, Sharp managing director, commented, “The last 18 months have seen us establish our position in UK pro-cycling, and we are now looking to build on that. As the premier UK pro event, The Tour of Britain is the perfect platform for us, and we’ll be looking to bring our technological expertise to the race this year, providing insights that can deepen the fans’ enjoyment and engagement.”

As a part of the deal Sharp will showcase their technological excellence to a wide audience across the UK by supplying The Tour of Britain and The Halfords Tour Series with award-winning Quattron TVs and multifunction printers, in return for branding and other commercial rights across both events.

Sharp and The Tour of Britain will also once again be placing a number of exclusive competitions in regional media in the build up to Britain’s biggest professional cycle race, giving fans the chance to win Sharp products and get close to the action with VIP experiences.

“The news that Sharp have committed to an extension of their deal with us is excellent news and is the latest of several major sponsorship announcements that we are very pleased to be making,” said SweetSpot Group Commercial Manager Alastair Grant.

"We have enjoyed working with Sharp over the past two editions of The Tour of Britain and utilising their award winning products on the event. We can now look forward to continuing this relationship in 2011 and working together to enable fans to get close to the action with Sharp. The extended partnership is also a clear sign of the growing success of The Tour of Britain and how we have developed the television coverage since the revival of the race in 2004.”

Scotland will be the perfect stage for The Tour of Britain Grand Depart on Sunday 11th September, with full details of the entire race route that will culminate in London, to be announced at the National Launch on Tuesday 19th April.
