As expected, the 2014 Giro D'Italia will start in Northern Ireland.

Race Organisers RCS have announced that the Giro will start in Belfast on May 10th 2014 and have stages in Belfast, Amagh and Dublin.

The exact route of the race is to be announced at an unspecified date, which will see the riders and teams flying straight back to Italy from Dublin for the start of the fourth stage on May 14th.

This is the first time that a Grand Tour race will happen on Irish soil since Dublin staged a couple of stages in the 1998 Tour De France.
