Ignatas Konovalovas Wins Four Days Of Dunkirk

Ignatas Konovalovas of Team Marseille has won the Four Days Of Dunkirk race in France.

The fifth and final stage was 171km stage from Cappelle Le Grande to Dunkirk and had Ignatas Konovalovas of Team Marseille in the lead after snatching overall control of the race with a sixth place on the penulitmate stage from Bryan Coquard of Europcar who had led the race since the start.

Six riders in Turgot, Mager, Kerkhof, Jarrier, Pichon and Tommy Voeckler of Europcar got in to a break and had a lead of 3.45 after sixty five kilometres.

With ten laps of Dunkirk left to complete, the gap had dropped to two minutes and only a minute with forty five kilometres left.

Thirteen kiloemtres and the six had a lead of 57 seconds before an attack by Voeckler split the front group.

The front group came back together thanks to work from Jarrier who was distanced by Voeckler, Turgot, Pichon and Mager with ten kilometres to go.

With 7.3 kilometres to go, the break for the day was finally caught and riders started to think about the finish line.

It came down to a sprint and Edward Theuns of Topsport won the stage in a mass sprint ahead of Coquard, Napolitano, Hutarovich and  Dupont with British rider Russ Downing of the Cult Energy team finished seventh.

Ignatas Konovalovas of Team Marseille finished safely and he took the overall victory.
