Radio Shack's Christian Horner won the Larry H Miller Tour Of Utah Fifth Stage and takes over the lead of the race going into the final stage.

At over 9,000 feet, this 182km stage was all about the climb to Snowbird Mountain from Snowbird Basin.

All of the early escapes were soon dealt with, it was not the 130kms to go mark, that the first real break of the day was established. In this break was the only British rider in the race - Steve Cummings of BMC along with Jens Voigt, Sulzberg, King, Reijnen, Torckler, Anthony, Stemper, Eijssen and Tvetcov.

After a crash which saw Robin Carpenter of the Hincapie squad abandon, their lead went out to 2.30 as Kiel Reijnen took the first sprint at Coalville with 100kms to go.

Next was the Category Four climb at Browns Canyon and Torckler took the points ahead of Cummings but had to settle for third in the second sprint at Park City which was won bt Reijnen.

As they approached Guardsmans Pass, Cummings and Yannick Eijssen edged cleared as some of the escapers started to struggle. Cummings decided he had done enough work and Eijssen, who was 45 seconds down on the general classification and the leader's jersey of Lachlan Morton, Eijssen was now the virtual leader on the road.

Elijssen, now joined by Torckler, took the points on the Category One climb and they had a forty second lead on the chasers and a minute and 45 seconds on the peloton with 44kms to go.

The likes of Radio Shack's Christian Horner, Tom Danielson of Garmin and Irishman Phillip Deignan were in the chasing group,

Eijssen was still in front with 7.6kms remaining, some 2.15 ahead of Danielson and now the race leader who cracked as the steepness of the climb started to have an effect.

Christian Horner caught up with Danielson and they set after Eijssen, the most aggressive rider of the day, with five kilometres to go.

A kilometre later, and it was all over for Eijssen. and Horner and Danielson sprinted for the line with Horner taking the win in a time of 4.52.45 ahead of Danielson with Elijssen third, some 31 seconds back.

The win meant that Christian Horner was the new leader of the race and leads on the virtue of beating Danielson. Third is Lucas Euser with Ireland's Phillip Deignan sixth and Steve Cummings 46th.

Lachlan Morton who lost his leaders jersey will still have the Young Rider's jersey whilst Greg Van Avermaet of BMC had the lead in the Sprint competition and Michael Torckler leads the King Of The Mountains competition.
