Belkin's Moreno Hofland won the Volta Limburg Classic in Holland.

A 197km race which was first run in 1973, saw Kruijswijk, Honkisz and Bochmann out front with a lead of 2.21 with eighty three kilometres remaining.

Thirty five kilometres later, they were reeled in and a new attack formed by Ten Dam, Lindeman, Rebellin, De Maar, Boem and Ruigh started to form with Finetto bridging.

However, they were caught with twelve kilometres to go from the finish line in Eijsden and a sprint ensued which was won by Moreno Hofland in 4.46.41 beating Sonny Collbrelli of Bardiani and Mauro Finetto of Neri.

"It's really great to take the win for the team at home in the Netherlands and for our Sports Director, Frans Maassen," Hofland said to his team's website. "He really wanted to win this race.

"I had to do the sprint on my own because all the guys worked before. "I knew I had to be in the top three in the last corner, I did it. It was all or nothing. I was in second spot in that corner and ready for the win."

"The season is going well for me but I didn't expect it to be so well. "I felt strong since the beginning of the season, but in the last week I felt a bit sick. I took a rest and reconned the course. I felt better, I knew the illness was over and I knew I'd have a good day."
