Hofland Wins Tour Of Utah Opener

Belkin's Moreno Hofland has won the opening stage of the Tour Of Utah.

The race now in its tenth year, started with a 182.6km stage which started and finished in Cedar City.

A stage of  5,706 feet of climbing through Brian Head and Cedar Canyon Highway saw J Clarke, Phelan and Carpenter attack early and were joined by Soladay and Leece which allowed the five to take a lead of 3.15.

With 63kms to go, the gap was down to 2.10 and thirteen kilometres later, the peloton were only forty seconds behind.

Mohoric was able to bridge to the break but with four kilometres go, they were caught and Wurf attack.

Schar went for it in the final kilometre but he was caught and Moreno Hofland of Belkin was able to take an easy win ahead ahead of Jure Kocjan (SmartStop) and Andrea Palini (Lampre-Merida).
