Team Sky's Serge Henao won the third stage of the Volta Ao Algarve this afternoon.

A 193km stage from Portimão to Alto do Malhão (Loulé) saw plenty of attacks early on but the peloton was all back together as they started on the Alto do Malhão after the likes of Team Sky's Alex Dowsett and stage two winner Theo Bos had retired.

With 2.5kms to go, Serge Henao made his move, followed by Movistar's Rui Costa and held on to win in a time of 4.53.15. Rui Costa was second with Westra third.

The victory means that Henao now leads the race by seven seconds from Rui Costa going into the final time trial tomorrow.

Radio Shack's Giacomo Nizzola leads the Points Classification with 33 points, Hugo Sabido of La Aluminios-Antarte leads the Sprint Classification, Manuele Boaro of Team Saxo-Tinkoff leads the King Of The Mountains Classification whilst Team Sky lead the Team Classification.
