Within the last five kilometers they were caught thanks to a chase from Lotto Belisol and Matti Breschel went away to try and win but he too was caught and the bunch sprint saw Greipel win in 4.34.03 ahead of Michael Morkov of Tinkoff Saxo and Danny Van Poppel of Trek Factory Racing who keeps his leaders jersey, Jean Pierre Drucker of Wanty Group and Greg Henderson of Lotto Belisol.

Speaking about his win, Greipel told his team's press office: "Another honour to finish off a great team effort. My team rode really well to help me win."
