Jose Rujano won stage 13 of the Giro D'Italia this afternoon.
A number of the sprinters had withdrawn from the race including Mark Cavendish, Renshaw, Hondo, Petacchi, Belletti and Ventoso as the race went in for three days of mountain climbing.
Stage 13 was from Spilimbergo to Grossglockner and saw the race head into Austria. It was a pretty quiet stage until race leader Alberto Contador shot off with ten kilometres to go.
With 500m to go, Androni rider Jose Rujano caught up with Contador and after a chat, he was allowed to go over the line for his bit of glory.whilst Contador increased his lead in the pink jersey.
