Stage Nineteen of the Giro D'Italia has been cancelled.
A modified route to avoid some of the worst snow and ice had been released by race organisers RCS Sport.
However, with no improvement in the weather, organisers were forced to postpone the stage and said in a press statement; "Due to adverse weather conditions and, in particular, snow on the stage route in its entirety, stage 19 of the Giro d’Italia, from Ponte di Legno to Val Martello/Martelltal, has been cancelled."
A decision on whether stage twenty on Saturday will go ahead is to be made later.
