Belkin's Robert Gesink won the Grand Prix de Quebec in Canada tonight.

The fourth running of this 201.6km race around the streets of Quebec, which saw the likes of Chris Froome, Alberto Contador, Cadel Evans and Peter Sagan all competing, had started with Bilbao, Agnoli & Machado escaping and taking a 6.10 lead after 35kms.

Their lead dropped down to 45 seconds with 73kms to go and this started attacks from the peloton with three riders in Van Garderen, Moinard & Morabito from BMC bridging the gap to form a group which comprised of van Garderen, Morabito, Moinard, Vorganov, Bobridge, Herrada, Machado, Agnoli & Bilbao with 68.5kms to go.

Vacansoleil's Minko Selvaggi and Peter Velits of Omega Pharma Quick Step came out of the pelton as Machado took the points on the Cote De La Pottasse/Des Glacis climb.

With 42kms to go, it was all back together, so Daniel Oss, Offredo and Marcato started another attack, with Devenyns, Chernetski joining them.

Their time at the front lasted for eighteen kilometres before Radio Shack's George Bennett was the next to attack with 24.3kms to go.

BMC brought Bennett back to the fold with eighteen kilometres left, so much to the delight of the crowds, Ryder Hesjedal of Garmin-Sharp came forward to do some work before Omega Pharma Quick Step's Niki Terpstra took this turn and led going into the final 12.6km lap.

Norwegian Lars Peter Nordhaug chased after Terpstra, followed by Hesjedal.

Terpstra had a 35 second lead with six kilometres to go as Team Sky in the guise of Geraint Thomas, Chris Froome and Jonathan Tiernan-Locke, put the hammer down.

It was spitting with rain as Sky wiped twelve seconds off Terpstra's lead. Froome hesitated with 3.8kms to go and Sagan launched a brief attack with Trentin.

BMC's Greg Van Avermaet had Terpstra in his sites with Peter Sagan in third place. Terpstra was joined with 1.9kms to go and everyone started to watch Sagan who was the pre-race favourite.

Robert Gesink of Belkin went under the flam rouge ahead of Sagan. Getschke and Terpstra tried to get away. Fabian Wegmann went for the line but Belkin's Robert Geskin stuck to his guns and was first over the line in 4.58.12.

Second was Arthur Vichot of FDJ, third was BMC's Greg Van Avermaet, with Garmin-Sharp's Fabian Wegmann in fourth and Rui Costa of Movistar in fifth.
