Gerrans Wins The GP De Quebec

Orica Greenedge's Simon Gerrans won the GP De Quebec today

This annual UCI World Tour race saw twelve riders get away on the first of six laps around the city of Quebec. 

Only Chris Anker Sorensen and De Vries were left with ten kilometres to go.  

With five to go, they had fifteen seconds lead on a peloton which included the likes of Peter Sagan, Luis Leon Sanchex and Team Sky Riders including Geraint Thomas.

With 3.9km left, the escapers were caught and BMC's Greg Van Avermaet took off with Simon Gerrens in hot pursuit.

Peter Sagan mounted the chase and was eighty metres behind as the front two went under the flam rouge.

With 250 to go, the sprint started and Simon Gerrans rode to take victory, ahead of van Avermaet, Costa and Paolini in a time of 4.53.00.
