BMC Racing Team have won the team time trial on stage nine of the 102nd Tour De France.

A 28km team time trial from Vannes to Plumelec saw Orica GreenEdge who have only six riders left in the race go down the ramp first.

Bretagne-Séché Environnement went second of the twenty two teams with Lampre following on a course which had a couple of small climbs and an uphill finish.

Orica GreenEdge with Adam and Simon Yates finished the course in 37.13, a time which was never likely to last as Lampre and FDJ were already faster on the road.

Bretagne-Séché Environnement finished in 34.01 at an average speed of  49.380km/h and then Lampre set the new time of 33.03.

FDJ went provisionally second with a time of 33.48 and Lotto Soudal went fourth with a time of 33.51.

IAM Cycling were strong throughout the course and they finished in a time of 32.53 to take over the lead.

Astana with Vincenzo Nibali went for it and finished well to set a new fastest time of 32.50.

Dan Martin’s Cannondale-Garmin finished in 33.44 but Alex Dowsett was riding in a Movistar team which was eating up the tarmac and they finished in 32.19 at an average speed of 51.98km/h, the new quickest time. That moved Nairo Quintana up into the White Jersey as Peter Sagan, the white jersey competition leader was already in the Green Jersey.

Team Sky were last down the ramp at 16.45 local time as BMC went quickest by three seconds at the second split.

Alberto Contador’s Tinkoff Saxo team finished in 32.42 to go second, watched by some massive crowds but that meant that Contador had lost 24 seconds to Nairo Quintana.

BMC, the world champions, finished in 32.15 to take the lead as Chris Froome set a high pace for his team at speeds of 44.3kmh.

Geraint Thomas and Richie Porte worked hard and Froome got his team home in 32.16, a second behind BMC’s time, to make sure that he did not lose any time and he stayed in yellow.

Froome now leads the race with a twelve second lead over BMC’s Tejay van Garderen.
