Froome In Control In Oman

Chris Froome won the ‎fifth stage of the Tour Of Oman and snatched the overall lead of the race with a late attack.
 
Preben Van Hecke of Topsport, along with his team mate Spengers, Canola of Bardiani, and Murphy of UnitedHealthCare, shot clear after nine kilometres of this 147.5km stage from Bidbid to Jabal Al Akhdhar (Green Mountain).
 
They were only allowed a lead of 3.30 by a field of ‎141 riders but were still clear when Van Hecke took the second sprint of the day with a lead of just over a minute.
 
They were caught and Chris Froome attacked and got away to win the stage ahead of Tejay Van Garderen and Rigoberto Uran and take the lead overall in the race, going into the final stage tomorrow.‎
