Chris Froome has said that he had a cup of urine thrown over him during stage fourteen of the Tour De France from Rodez to Mende.

Froome, who said that he was punched hard in the stomach by a fan on the road side on stage thirteen and was the subject of a threat to break his legs by a French student on Facebook, told ITV4's Ned Boulting: " A spectator threw a cup of urine in my face and said 'doper'.

"You don't do that to anyone. It's not in the name of sport.

"That's extremely disappointing. Unfortunately I think a lot of the reporting on the race has been very irresponsible.

"What can I do? I can get angry. I'd rather keep my composure and stay focused on the race."

Froome, who extended his lead in the 102nd Tour De France to 3.10, has maintained that he is clean and even offered to undergo psychological tests to prove that he is not doping.

Team Sky's Richie Porte was also spat at.

Sebastian Langeveld tweeted: "Today I saw a spectator spit on very disrespectful those guys don't deserve this at all! Please stop, or stay at home."
