Friday Start For The Giro D'Italia In Belfast

The 2014 Giro D'Italia is to start in Belfast on Friday May 9th.

The race, won by Vincenzo Nibali of Astana, is expected to begin in the Northern Irish capital with a team time trial followed by the second stage which is likely to be a road stage starting and finishing in Belfast.

Stage 3 will also be on Irish soil with a stage from Armagh to Dublin and will be followed by a rest day on Monday May 12th, to allow the riders to transfer for the start of the fourth stage back in Italy.

The full route will be announced on Monday October 7th in Milan.
