VC Norwich's Emma Pooley has retained her British National Time Trial title.

With Lizzie Armistead deciding not to enter, the women set off down the ramp on the thirteen mile course around Celtic Manor Golf Course and Hotel complex, near Newport in South Wales, with Wiggle Honda's Amy Roberts was the first rider out and the first home  in a time of 33 minutes and 19 seconds.

Roberts time lasted until Emma Pooley, a former World Time Trial champiom, finished in 30.18 with fifteen riders still on the course and the rain starting to come down.

The rain meant that Pooley's time was not to be beaten and she won ahead of Katie Archibald who finished in 30.57 and Dame Sarah Storey who finished in 31.09.
