Eight Brits In The Worlds

Great Britain will be able to field eight riders in the World Championships in Copenhagen next month.

The number of riders each competing country can field is determined by UCI WorldTour’s national rankings and as Great Britain are sixth in the rankings they can field eight riders in the mens elite road race. Last year in Melbourne, they were only able to field three riders including Mark Cavendish.

The number of starters per country is as follows:

9 starters: Spain, Italy, Australia, Belgium, Germany, USA, Netherlands and France

8 starters: Great Britain

6 starters:  Luxembourg, Morocco, Colombia, Venezuela, Iran, Slovenia, Russia, Portugal, Poland, Ukraine, Croatia, Denmark

4 starters:  Switzerland, Norway, Kazakhstan

3 starters:  Brazil, Argentina, China, Japan, Eritrea, Lithuania, Austria, Turkey, Czech Republic, Estonia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Sweden, Ireland, Slovakia, Canada, New Zealand.

1 starter:  Costa Rica, Latvia, Algeria, Cuba, Uruguay, Ecuador, Hungary, Romania, Greece, Serbia
