Bibby, Stewart, Dunne, Planet, Kneisky, Wyss and Handley led on lap four but it was Bibby, Wyss, Domagalski, Cronshaw and Bouwman on the front before they were joined by Dylan Van Barle, last year's race winner, who took the sprint on lap six along with Jurec Sagan (TCS) and Richard Handley (JLT).

As they started lap nine, their lead was at fifteen seconds so Team Sky sent Ian Stannard and British Champion Peter Kennaugh to the front.

Dylan Van Barle took the sprint on lap nine but on lap thirteen, the break was over.

Wyss launched another attack to go away but the peloton had caught him and Peter Kennaugh led them over the line for the final lap with the race leader in the third wheel.

Sir Bradley Wiggins, working for Owain Doull and Lotto Soudal were leading going into the final two kilometres.

Matteo Trentin went on the right and onto the final straight up came Mark Renshaw and Elia Viviani but on the left was Andrei Greipel of Lotto Soudal and he took the win in 1.50.15 on a narrow finish ahead of Viviani. Lobato, Trentin and Edvald Boasson-Hagen who wins the race overall.

It looked like he had blocked Viviani by devating from the line and an inquiry followed and Elia Viviani was awarded the win instead of Greipel.

British rider Owain Doull won the points competition by a point from Edvald Boasson-Hagen who won the race from Wouter Poels by thirteen seconds with Doull third some 42 seconds down.
