Dylan Groenewegen (Roompot) has won the Brussels Cycling Classic.

The 95th edition of this race saw a 200.8km race which was back to its former finish on the Houba de Strooperlaan, right outside of the Heysel Stadium in Brussels.

There were some big name sprinters taking part among the twenty four teams, who would take on thirteen hills, including Marcel Kittel of Giant Alpecin and Arnaud Demare of FDJ along with World Champion Michael Kwaitkowski of Etixx Quick Step and Romain Bardet of AG2R.

A five man break of Daniil Fominykh (Astana), Alessandro Malaguti (Nippo), Jelle Wallays (Topsport Vlaanderen, Kevin Van Melsen (Wanty) and Sebastien Delfosse (Wallonie) were 2.40 ahead and never allowed to get more than three minutes clear.

The gap was 1.20 with 55kms left but Giant Alpecin started to work and the break was over.

Two riders tried their luck but Trek Factory Racing and Etixx-Quick Step brought them back before Julien Vermote and Lukasz Wisniowski tmade a move until Stijn Vandenbergh launched a raid with 4.5kms left.

Vermote took over as did Lampre-Merida's Roberto Ferrari and Julian Alaphilippe who led the riders under the flam rouge.

Michal Kwiatkowski and Yves Lampaert both made pushes for the line but Roy Jans of Wanty Group went for it quite away out amid competition from Dylan Groenewegen (Roompot).

The pair went over the finish line just ahead of Tom Bonnen and Roy Jans was initially announced as the winner but after examining the finish line footage, the juey decided that Dylan Groenewegen was the winner with Jans second and Tom Boonen third.
