Dumoulin Wins Tour Of Alberta Prologue

Giant Shimano's Tom Dumoulin has won the Tour Of Alberta Prologue.

The biggest stage race in Canada attracted five World Tour teams in Garmin-Sharp, Belkin, Giant Shimano, Cannondale and Orica Green Edge who included British rider Simon Yates.

The Subway Calgary Prologue was on a short 4 kilometre course within the Canada Olympic Park in Calgary and started flat but had the final 1.3 kilometres climbing more than 100 metres elevation with six switchbacks to the finish.

First down the ramp was Adam Farabaugh but the early fastest time was set by Giant Shimano's Tom Dumoulin who finished in 5.59.

Villella went second finishing, some 17:74 down on Dumoulin's time before Jelly Belly's Sergei Tvetcov beat his time with Garmin's Tom Danielson taking hird place.

Dumoulin's time was not to be beaten and he leads going into the first 142km long stage around the Lethbridge circuit.
