Didier Wins US Pro Tour Challenge Fifth Stage

Laurent Didier of Trek Factory Racing has won the fifth stage of the US Pro Tour Challenge.

Tejay van Garderen of BMC led the riders out of Woodland Park on a 168km stage to Breckenridge.

Heading towards Lake George, Tiago Machado of Team Netapp-Endura,  
Daniel Summerhill UnitedHealthcare) Eric Marcotte (SmartStop)
Tyler Magner of Hincapie Sportswear Development, Dion Smith of  Hincapie Sportswear Development, Luis Romero Amaran of Jamis, Steve Fisher of Jelly Belly and Greg Daniel of Bissell, formed the first break of the day.

That was caught and Janier Acevedo and Ben King (Garmin-Sharp), Laurent Didier (Trek), Cristiano Salerno (Cannondale), Jose Pimenta (NetApp-Endura), Jai Crawford (Drapac), Chris Butler (Hincapie), Rob Britton (Smarstop), Richard Handley (Rapha-Condor), Daniel Eaton (Bissell) Luis Lemus (Jelly Belly) and Scott Zwizanski (Optum) took over, taking a 3.30 lead after 70 kilometres on a day where it was raining on and off.

Heading up to Hoosier Pass where temperatures were only at nine degrees, this twelve rider strong group had a lead of 3.10 with 29kms to go.

Laurent Didier took the first King Of The Mountain climb and then launched an attack which saw him followed by Janier Acevedo and Ben King (Garmin-Sharp) and Rob Britton (Smartstop) who were 45 seconds ahead of the remnants of the break.

King attacked but on the Borias Pass Road, it was Didier who was over the top of the second KOM climb and started on the descent with 4.9kms to go with a five second lead.

Didier was chased inside the final five hundred metres by Acevedo but the Trek Factory rider from Luxembourg took the win in 3.50.38 ahead of  Acevedo, Britton and King.

Tejay Van Garderen finished 1.39 down on Didier but keeps his race lead.
