Demare Wins 4 Jours de Dunkerque

FDJ's Arnaud Demare won the 4 Jours de Dunkerque (Four Days Of Dunkirk) after La Pomme Marseille's Yannick Martinez won the final stage

Sojasun's David Lelay took the first sprint on the sea front in Dunkirk on a fifth and final 164.1km stage from Estaires to Dunkirk.

Lelay, Lloyd Mondory (AG2R)  and Chun Kai Feng (Champion Systems) had a 1.12 lead of the peloton which included race leader Arnaud Demare, who had a sixteen second overall lead, going into the final forty kilometres of the race.

The gap had dropped to inside a minute, fifteen kilometres later on what was a beautiful day on the French northern coast.

Hong Kong rider Feng took the second sprint with sixteen kilometres left as the gap dropped against to forty one seconds.

The trio were finally caught with 6.6kms to go and FDJ took to the front, followed by Cofidis who led going into the final kilometre.

Out of nowhere came La Pomme Marseille's Yannick Martinez to win in a time of 3.41.28 and with Demare finishing in the peloton, the Four Days Of Dunkirk was his with a sixteen second victory over Florent Vachon.
