Katusha's Daniel Moreno won the second stage of the Criterium du Dauphine this afternoon.

A 160km stage from Lamastre to Saint-Félicien saw four riders in Christophe Kern (Europcar), Blel Kadri (AG2R), José Sarmiento (Liquigas-Cannondale) and David Moncoutié (Cofidis) get away after forty kilometres.

Kadri took the points for the first climb of the day at Col de Montivernoux and being only eleven seconds down on race leader Bradley Wiggins, he was the leader of the race as his group were 3.45 ahead of the peloton with 78kms left.

After Pim Ligthart had abandoned, Kadri added more points when he was first over the Col de Clavière and then took his tally to twenty four when he was first over the Col de Rochepaule.

Bradley Wiggins moved to the front of the peloton which had got the gap down to 1.47 whilst Ireland's Dan Martin looked to be showing signs of his crash yesterday as he dropped off the back of the main group.

On the final climb of the day, Kadri had to settle for second as Christophe Kern took the points,

Anthony Roux of FDJ, tried to bridge the gap to the four riders. With 17kms to go, he was eight seconds ahead of the peloton but 25 seconds down on the quartet of escapers.

With ten kilometres to go, the  Saur - Sojasun were on the front and had closed the gap to the escapers to fifteen seconds.

Everyone was back together with 5kms left to race before the uphill finish.

George Hincapie brought Cadel Evans up and he attacked followed by Tony Martin and Gallopin. However, up came Daniel Moreno to win the stage ahead of Julien Simon and Tony Gallopin.

Bradley Wiggins was ninth and will keep his leaders jersey.
