Olympic champion cyclist, Dani King, MBE has left hospital following an accident on November 6th

The London 2012 Olympic Champion left the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil following a crash whilst training. The crash saw her sustain five broken ribs and a pneumothorax (collapsed lung), resulting in two nights in intensive care.

Dani's stay in hospital was necessary to ensure that her lung was fully drained of all the fluid that had accumulated in the cavity created by the   collapse and it’s subsequent re-inflation.

This procedure is now complete which will enable Dani to make a full recovery over the coming weeks at home.

"Dani said: "Obviously, the last eleven days have been a trumatic time for me, my family and friends but the treatment and care I have received in the Prince Charles hospital has been incredible. All the NHS staff could not have done any more to help and support me.

"I'll always be grateful for the unbelievable care I have received and will never be able to thank the staff enough.

“I’d also like to thank my incredible family, boyfriend and friends for their support in helping me get through this. I must also thank British Cycling, my team Wiggle Honda and all my sponsors who have done everything possible to make my life easier.

"Thanks also to the fans whose well wishes have been a constant strength of support"

Dani will now focus on getting herself back to full fitness and back on the bike as quickly as possible."
