Cycling Season Starts With Jayco Herald Sun Tour

A number of British cyclists are involved in the Jayco Herald Sun Tour of Victoria, Australia which starts today.

Although the race is mainly made up of Australian and New Zealand riders, Britain is represented with the GB National team comprising of Simon Yates, Alistair Slater Sam Lowe, Chris Latham, Richard Lange and Graham Briggs whilst the Rapha Condor team includes Brits Kristian House, Richard Handley, Luke Grivell-Mellor and Michael Cuming with two Irish riders in Aaron Buggle and Felix English. 

The Jayco Australian National Team does feature a number of World Tour professionals in Simon Clarke, Simon Gerrans, Matt Goss and Stuart O'Grady. 

The race starts at 5pm local time with a 4.7 kilometre individual time trial along the picturesque waterfront of Williamstown. 

On Friday, the  first road stage is a 148 kilometre stage from Sunbury to Bendigo (9.30am start) where the riders will stay over night.

Stage two is a 146 .6km stage from Mitchelton Winery to Healesville (11.30am start) before the the race ends on Sunday with the 93km final stage from Moonah Links to Arthurs Seat (5.30pm start).
