Coventry's rich heritage of bicycle manufacturing is one of the stars of the show as the Coventry Transport Museum was officially relaunched today.
The Museum in Millennium Place in Coventry, had been under-going changes for the last eighteen months funded by a £9m lottery grant, £3.1 from the European Development, and £0.5m from BIFA. amongst other donations and today.
Gary Hall the Chef Exec took great delight on opening the exhibition on behalf of all those involved including former Coventry City Chairman Joe Elliott, who is chairman of the Trustrees.
Around thirty five companies were making bikes in the city in the 1890's and the museum highlights everything from Penny Farthings, all the way through bikes made by the likes of Rudge Whitworth, Singer, some of whose workers formed what has gone on to become Coventry City Football Club and Triumph to bikes that have been used for world records.
The museum is open from 10am to 5pm and is FREE
