Coventry Storm were beaten 49-41 at home to Eastbourne in their opening National League meeting this season.
The Storm started with a 3-3 and then had Jamie Halder win in a 4-2 before Eastbourne took a 5-1 in the third heat.
A 3-3 was followed by two 4-2's but in heat seven, a 5-1 to the visitors had Eastbourne ahead by two points.
Two more 3-3's were followed by Eastbourne taking a 4-2 and then a 3-3 before a 5-1 in heat thirteen increased their lead to eight points.
Two 3-3's finished the meeting and meant a defeat for the Storm.
