Coventry Blaze The Play-Off Champions

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team are the Elite League Play-Off Champions after beating Sheffield Steelers 4-2 in the final at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham.

After Belfast had beaten Hull 8-6 in the third place game, the Blaze took on the league champions in the final in front of a crowd of 6,952.

Coventry took the lead on 3.21 when Steve Goertzen netted, assisted by Mike Egener and Ryan O'Marra.

Twenty nine seconds into the second period and the Blaze doubled their tally when Jereme Tendler scored, assisted by Goertzen and O'Marra.

That was followed by an individual goal from Ross Venus on 29.17 with a fourth for Ashley Tait on 30.44.

Sheffield got on the board with a goal from Mattieu Roy on 43.26, who scored a second goal which was shorthanded on 46.03 but they were beaten and the Coventry Blaze are the 2015 Play Off Champions.
