Coventry Blaze Beat The Panthers

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey Team beat Nottingham Panthers 4-3 in a Challenge Cup Group B tie.

When the puck was finally dropped after the Zamboni machine had been fixed, Coventry took the lead in the tenth minute when Russ Cowley scored, assisted by Derek Lee and Jereme Tendler.

With the Panthers Chris Lawrence off the ice for cross checking, the Blaze scored a second goal on 19.08, thanks to Craig Cescon, finding the net on the powerplay, assisted by Kyle Bochek and Cale Tanaka. 

Max Parent pulled one back for Nottingham Panthers on 32.07 but Coventry soon restored their two goal margin with a goal from Steve Goertzen, assisted by Ryan O'Marra and Ben Arnt on 33.58.

It was four on 45.06 whwn Ryan O'Marra scored an unassisted goal with Nottingham scoring a second on 51.42 with a powerplay goal from Nathan Robinson.

A third goal came for the Panthers on 55.08 when Max Parent scored his second of the match and set up a grandstand finish but the Blaze held on to win for the first time in the Blaze's history that they have  started with 5 home wins!
