Coventry Bees Well Beaten At Swindon

Coventry Bees were well beaten 55-36 at Swindon Robins tonight.

The Bees had to use rider replacement for Jason Garrity and went down 5-1 in the first heat.

Josh Bates won in a 3-3 as did Harris in a 4-2 but Australian Justin Sedgman won in a 4-2 for Swindon that was followed by 5-1, a 4-2 and a 5-1 heat wins for the Robins.

In heat eight with the Bees 28-14 down, Danny King took the tactical ride but he was behind Sedgmen and the heat finished in a 4-4 shared race.

Kacper Wornya and James Sarjeant rode in heat nine and Wornya was down on the first bend after being taken down by Rohan Tungate. All four were back for the re-run which saw Tungate and Wright ride away for a 5-1.

Wornya and Kasprzak went for the Bees in heat ten but they could not stop Nick Morris and Grajzonek from taking a 5-1 which gave Swindon the meeting with five heats to spare.

Chris Harris and Danny King went in heat eleven and King got into the lead with Harris following to give the Bees a 5-1.

Heat twelve, with Woryna and Bates riding for Cov, had to be re-run and then re-run again after Charles Wright went down with the Bees on a 5-1 as the rain started to come down.

Wright was excluded for the heat which saw Woryna beat Stefan Nielsen with Bates pulling up to see the Bees take a 3-2 heat win.

Chris Harris got into second place in heat thirteen behind Jason Doyle but Kasprzak's bike packed up and Swindon took a 4-2 to lead 49-30 with two heats to go.

Danny King and James Sarjeant went in heat fourteen and the British champion won with Sarjeant third for a 4-2.

Danny King and Chris Harris went against Sedgman and Morris in the final heat. Harris got round Morris for second place with King fourth in a 4-2 to see the Bees beaten 55-36.

Gary Havelock said: "It was a difficult night and we will regroup and see how we go. I don't want to criticise the riders who don't get paid if they are not earning points."
